I'm seventeen and I'm going to be a counsellor this year at a summer camp. I was just wondering if anybody had experience with what the most practical containers are to pack in, like storage trunks (which I've used) or anything else? Thanks

Separate things like hair supplies, toiletries, writing utensils, etc. Use something clear, like ziplock freezer bags or something like that because it's annoying to have to open everything to try and figure out where you put everything.

If you know what the living quarters are like, pack everything in something that will fit easily. If there is room under the bed, make sure your containers will fit underneath, if you have lockers to keep everything in ensure that your bags will fit, etc.

It also depends on whether or not your camp gives you places to organize your stuff--some camps give counselors closets or dressers. If this is the case, the best thing to bring is a duffle bag so you can fold it down and hide it away. If they don't a trunk or rubbermaid containers are good to use, because they are easy to keep organized. The best ones to use are the boxes that are short and wide. Rubbermaid also now has a trunk like box that works really well (it's about $20 at Walmart). It has wheels on it, and it also has somewhere to put a lock on it as well. I use that in the dorm, and it works well. For camp, I use a duffle bag, but our camp provides counselors with dressers.

Storage trunks are fine, but duffels are really good. Since it's a sleep-away camp (I'm presuming) I would suggest a trunks because it's sturdy and not easily lost. A great way to not have to do trunks and duffels is to pack smaller things, like socks or swimsuits or underwear into your shoes and wrap clothing around your things. Ex. Wrap T-shirts about books or CD's.

Have fun at camp and remember sunscreen and bug repellent. And like Lieutenant Dan in Forest Gump said, bring extra socks.

I am a seasoned Summer camp counselor and this is how I pack:

All Clothes go in garment bags (easy to hang up and keep your clothes seperated

I take lingerie bags for my underwear (get em a WalMart in the isle with hangars and irons and stuff)

Take rubber made plastic containers for everything else, they are easy to shove under the bed. (shoes, belts shorts)

I have a hanging cosmetic bag for all things soap, lotion, make up and tooth related

Don't fold your clothes roll them. you can go to the dollar store and find most things there that you Will need containers and such...Most of your stuff will not come back with you so don't pay a lot for anything..

bring a foot locker (that's a good sized trunk) and use space bags, you can pack a lot more than you think and it's amazing!

I would bring duffle bags :)

They're easier to bring then big trunks.

Plus you can get huge ones, or not so big ones.
