You are going on the Southern route...

= there might be snow through Flagstaff and Albuquerque. But that's like weather most of the time in California during that time period. 5 out of 7 days during the week there would be no problem.

= until you hit Knoxville, you may hit rain

= then once you head up 81 the more north you get the more likely for problems.

Lots of hotels allow dogs from Motel 6 to Hilton and Four Seasons. You should not have any problems with the pup. You are going to want to stop at dog parks along the way, to make sure the pup gets enough exercise.

La Quinta allows small dogs. Call in advance to ask for permission to allow a bigger dog. Maybe get a handicapped room so the bathroom will be bigger. You will stop and walk your dog the same amount of times as before. I often used the gas stops because most would have some grass nearby. You can also use the state rest stops and take the dog in the restroom with you.--it's not heated and is very basic. You must put your dog in the back seat with a seat-belt for best safety. A dog will drink water when they get ready. Never could figure this one out. Well, I guess at the end of the "tour."

My dog liked to see every square inch of the gas stations and the motels, especially if it had a second floor. Elevators too. Had to meet the motel security guards, too.

It will be rough traveling long distance like this throughout the summer time months. What's going to your dogs do whilst you're in restaurants, perhaps searching, etc? It will be too hot to go away them within the vehicle for over 15-20 min at a time. What if the car breaks down miles from nowhere and there is no air in the vehicle. If it were at all feasible i might try flying with the dogs. Would there be anyone else that could drive the car move country?
